After 3 months of testing, we would like to announce that VisualGSM Enterprise v4.1.3b supports SQL Server 2005 (SP1) and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (SP1). With SP1, we feel that SQL Server 2005 is stable and for production deployment and would strongly encourage users that have not decided on a paid database engine to use the Express Edition. VisualGSM Enterprise comes with built-in database backup and maintenance jobs so the Express Edition is more than sufficient for normal usage.
You can download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition from http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/express/default.mspx To cut short on the learning curve, we have prepared a step-by-step guide on how to install and configure SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for VisualGSM Enterprise - http://www.visualtron.com/download/Configu...Express2005.pdf Upgrading from MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/express/upgrade.mspx *Note to all VisualGSM Web Admin users: The default VisualGSM Web Admin installation will not work with SQL Express 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 unless you replace the installed c:\vgsmweb\php\ntwdblib.dll with ntwdblib.dll version 2000.80.194.0 or later. You may download ntwdblib.dll version 2000.80.194.0 from http://webzila.com/dll/1/ntwdblib.zip. If you have installed Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you may copy the supported ntwdblib.dll from your Windows system32 folder. -------------------- |
